Bank of China, Agencia en Chile, is seeking a Senior Associate – FMD Analyst to join the Financial Management Department. The role performs and maintains the Branch's accounting operations with high technical expertise, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of financial records.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Liquidity Management: Monitor and control liquidity indicators on a daily basis; calculate and report required liquidity ratios; escalate anomalies promptly to the Finance & Accounting Manager and Chief Accountant.
  2. Regulatory Reporting: Prepare, review, and submit periodic reports to the CMF and Banco Central de Chile within applicable deadlines. Monitor regulatory developments (CMF, BCCh, SII) and communicate relevant changes. Maintain audit-ready documentation at all times.
  3. Tax Compliance Support: Apply Chilean tax knowledge to support monthly and annual filings (IVA, impuesto a la renta), in coordination with the FMD Associate responsible for tax execution. Contribute to the annual income tax process with external advisors; review DDJJ and other submissions.
  4. Internal Controls & Governance: Ensure accounting operations comply with the internal control framework, BoC Group policies, and Chilean regulation. Identify discrepancies and propose corrective actions. Cooperate with internal and external auditors. Provide technical guidance to junior accounting staff when required.

The role operates with significant autonomy on complex accounting and reporting matters and escalates issues with material financial, regulatory, or compliance implications. Full-time, on-site position in Santiago, Chile.

Requerimientos

Education & Certification:

  • University degree in Commercial Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Accounting (Contador Auditor), Management Control Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certification required.

Experience:

  • 4–7 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with CMF and Banco Central de Chile regulatory reporting (required).
  • Prior experience preparing financial statements or notes under IFRS is an advantage.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Deep knowledge of Chilean banking accounting standards (CMF) and IFRS as applicable to financial institutions.
  • Strong understanding of liquidity risk indicators, their calculation, and control requirements.
  • Solid knowledge of Chilean tax regulations: IVA, impuesto a la renta, and SII filing requirements.
  • Regulatory reporting experience to CMF and Banco Central de Chile.
  • Advanced MS Excel for financial analysis and reconciliation.
  • Experience with accounting systems used in the banking sector.

Languages:

  • English: advanced or bilingual level is desirable (for Head Office interaction).

Skills & Competencies:

  • High degree of accuracy, analytical rigor, and process discipline.
  • Ability to manage complex accounting tasks and multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
  • High ethical standards and strict commitment to confidentiality, given the sensitive nature of financial and regulatory information handled.
